I really wanted Dali and Tophat to walk off into the sunset at the end of 29, so I colored it that way. Then I realized that in 30, I was either going to have to make it nighttime or keep things all sunsetty. I chose sunset. This led to a brief moment of learning when I wondered if it was possible for a rainbow to happen at sunset. The internet has confirmed this is possible, but only if lightning is involved.
For some reason, whenever I think of a scene wherein Everything Is Manifestly Okay, there's a happy dog sleeping somewhere in it, tail gently wagging as dreams of endless tummy rubs dance through its adorably dense head. Then, I realized that perhaps this happy sleeping dog is not, in fact, some fundamental Jungian trope. Result: happy gnome performing the Dance of All's Well.
And so ends the Dali arc, but as we'll see in episode 31, things only get More Terribly Mysterious from here.
On a more personal note, my grandfather is in the hospital right now. He served with exemplary courage in World War II, built bridges for the state of California, and then retired to a farm to raise animals and devour history books. He is a great man whom I have always looked up to, and I hope he recovers soon.
