Peter was a pretty incurable advice giver, though not always a follower of his own advice. The most tragic example was the case of his own son, whom he eventually had tortured and executed. He continuously lambasted his son for failing to live up to his duty as a husband to stay true to his wife. This was of course somewhat ironic, as Peter had his first wife disappeared into a convent at the beginning of his reign because he found her tiresome, then proceeded to hump his way through most of Europe.
