The reports have it that von Katte faced his execution with grace and dignity, and begged Frederick not to feel himself responsible for the grim event. It's almost too heroic and romantic to be true - but that goes for most execution testimony. Few are the accounts of men flipping the bird at the audience and saying, "Alla yous are jerks, and I'm totally haunting each of you individually after you murder me!" But then, I haven't made a detail study of the matter.
